Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for Mindful Moms

Mindful mothers are a special, gifted sort.

They have the ability to notice when they’re in the present moment, and when they’re distracted.

They know when their body, mind and heart need a reprieve from the discomfort they’re experiencing.

They are conscientious of their work as a mother and willing to make adjustments to become the best versions of themselves.

I wanted to highlight these mothers by sharing a few gift ideas they’d appreciate—be it for Mother’s Day or just because.

Here are 5 Mother’s Day gifts for the mindful mom in your life. (Stick around until the end to see the free gift ideas, too!)

1. Himalayan Salt Lamps

We use Himalayan salt lamps in our rooms to create a calm, relaxing glow at night. They’ve been known to help with sleep, mood and even improve air quality. I’ve also found it helpful in coping with my anxiety. We own three! And even have a nightlight version in our kitchen.

2. Books on Mindful Living

Whether it’s about mindfulness, minimalism, essentialism or self-improvement, mindful moms enjoy increasing their awareness to the world around them. If your mother is a minimalist, consider gifting a kindle so she can store all her books in one place without creating more clutter.

3. Journals

Mindful moms are sometimes mind full moms. With so much to think about, getting it all out on paper is exceptionally relaxing and therapeutic. Consider what your mom would prefer. If she likes to get her ideas out quick, consider a short, Line-a-Day journal or a gratitude journal.

4. Coloring Books

Art is a great way to connect to the present moment. The feel of the marker, paint brush or colored pencil between your fingers, connecting with the paper keeps us centered on the moment before us. There are so many types of coloring books: ones with inspirational quotes, ones with repeating patterns, and even nature scenes.

5. Live Plants

Whether it’s succulents, indoor plants or perennials, mindful moms enjoy connecting with nature. Having the greenery around us brings us peace, and many types of indoor plants also improve air quality. If you’re interested in supporting a small business, you can check out my mother-in-law’s succulent business on Facebook.

BONUS: FREE & Sentimental Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

My favorite gifts are ones from my kids that didn’t cost a dime. If you want some gift ideas that won’t cost you anything but your time, love and creativity, your mom may enjoy any of the following.

  • Handwritten letter
  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Hand-crafted card
  • Fresh picked flowers (especially ones with calming scents like lavender)
  • Organize something for her (photos on her phone, something in her house)
  • Help her in the garden
  • Make her dinner
  • Write her a song
  • Write her a poem
  • Clean something for her

Get creative with this and personalize your gift with whatever your mom would love.

What’s the Best Gift for Mindful Moms?

Honestly? Your presence.

When you celebrate Mother’s Day with the moms in your life, take a few deep breaths before the visit. Let any other stresses or worries drift away. Notice your feet planted firmly on the ground, connecting you to the present, with those you love.

Use your senses to engage and remain present during the visit. Listen attentively. If your thoughts begin to wander, gently guide them back.

Notice the feel of your loved one as you embrace. (If you’re able to.)

The pandemic has been challenging for all of us. Especially mothers. So rejoice in whatever time you have together.

Which gift did you like best? Did I leave anything out? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list! 👇👇👇

Happy Mother’s Day!

This is such a great list of Mother’s Day gifts for mindful momma! I’m all for practical gift giving, and I would love to receive any of them! I would much rather receive a plant I can plant in my yard than cut flowers.
